MOSCOW, Feb 2 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom did not book capacities of the Yamal–Europe pipeline for gas transit across Poland for Thursday and cut the bid for capacity in Ukraine, auction platform GSA Platform and the Ukrainian gas transport system said on Wednesday.
The company was to book 89.1 million cubic meters on the entrance to Poland, one of Gazprom’s key routes to Europe, but it did not. Gazprom previously did not book any capacities for February.
Gazprom booked 60.5 million cubic meters of the Ukrainian capacity after almost 91 million cubic meters for Wednesday.
The Yamal-Europe pipeline, along with Nord Stream and Ukraine’s gas transportation system, is one of the key routes for Russian gas delivery to Europe. The 2,000-kilometer pipeline runs through Russia, Belarus, Poland and Germany and can pump 33 billion cubic meters of gas a year.
A long-term contract between Gazprom and Poland on transit via the Yamal-Europe pipeline ended in 2020, and Gazprom started booking capacity at auctions.
